I went down to the harbour after work today. There was not a white horse in sight even though the reading on the wall were giving the wind at 20+ knots. Several of the Portland Pirates team were there but no one went out. The forecast is showing 20+ knots tomorrow as well, but the direction swings from south to north back to south which is usually an indicator of a fickle wind. If I can get half an hour on the water at some point in the morning then I should be able to get at least 10nautical miles towards the target in the coldest month for air temperatures which will blow off the cobwebs and get me started properly.
